The most diverse landscapes: Bahia, the Amazon, Maranhão

Your English-speaking guide and a driver will be waiting for you as you get off the plane to drive you to your hotel in downtown Salvador.

After your breakfast, your English-speaking guide will come to pick you up at the hotel lobby to visit the so called “Black Rome”, nicknamed like so because of the African culture influences on its traditions.

Your will start your city tour by the Ordem Terceira de São Francisco church, that has been built in the XVIIIth century.
You will then walk through the famous Pelourinho square, surrounded by colorful Portuguese colonial mansions.
You will go up the Ladeira do Carmo street to reach Santo Antonio neighborhood, and go through the Terreiro de Jesus square to the huge Art deco style Lacerda elevator. Don't resist the temptation of a refreshing “picolé” (ice cream)!

Departure early in the morning with your guide to take your bus from Salvador to the Chapada Dimantina National Park.

Your driver will come to pick you up at the bus station in Lençóis and drive you to the hotel.

Free afternoon to discover the small village and its restaurants, which serve delicious food.

After about one hour walk inside the National Park, you will see the Fumaça Waterfall, one of the main attraction of the Chapada. Indeed, it is the second highest waterfall in Brazil (385 meters high), surrounded by a primary forest of eatable palm trees (Euterpe edulis).

You will then have the opportunity to swim in the clear waters of the Riachinho Waterfall before returning to your hotel.

You will be driven to the Pratinha Cave, a gigantic cave where flows a transparent river. You will enjoy a bath in the river if you wish and observe the animals and plants of this surreal place.
Next stop, the Mucugezinho waterfall.

On the way back, you will make a stop at Morro do Pai Inácio to watch the sunset from this 1120 meters high rock formation. The view over the Chapada is breathtaking.

Your driver will come to pick you up and drive east towards a remarkable site: the Poço Azul or "Blue Well". the Poço Azul is a cave flooded by transparent waters, where the sunlight penetrates and creates a surreal atmosphere. Before swimming in this beautiful and unique place, you will take a shower to get rid of the sunscreen.

You will then be driven to the Mosquito waterfall. A 60 meters waterfall where you can swim while admiring the surrounding nature.

You will have lunch either near Poço Azul or the Mosquito Waterfall.

Drive back to Lençóis in the afternoon.

Three hours before your flight, your English-speaking guide and a driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby to bring you to Salvador airport.

Your driver will pick you up at Belém airport and drive you to your hotel.

Your English speaking guide will come to pick you up at your hotel for a half-day city tour of Belém.

The visit will start with the biggest market in Latin America: Ver-o-Peso. Most of the products in display are unknown from the rest of the country: medicinal plants, talismans, mysterious syrups… And of course dozens of fish species from the Amazon fresh waters, the Belém bay brackish waters or the sea.

Then you will visit Belém colonial city center composed of remarkable Art Deco mansions, covered in mosaics and XVIIth century churches.

You will also stop at the Forte do Castelo, where the city has officially been founded, from where you will have an unobstructed view over the Guajará Bay.

Finally, you will visit the Emilio Goeldi Museum, which gathers the most comprehensive archeological and ethnological collection on the Marajó Island civilization.
The museum also has a zoo surrounded by a huge botanical garden, to help you understand the region complex variety of animals and plants.

Early in the morning, your English speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel. You will first take a boat during 3 hours towards Camará, on Marajó Island. Then a driver will pick you up to bring you to your hotel.
After lunch, you will explore the area with your guide.

Night at the hotel Canto do Francês**

With your English speaking guide, you will have the day to explore the island, a buffalo’s paradise.
You will have the opportunity to ride a buffalo or a horse. You will walk through Soure, the main city on the island, and Joanes village. You will also have the occasion to admire natural landscapes, such as the mangrove suspended roots, the Barra Velha beach and the Pesqueiro village and Beach, and enjoy the local handicraft (pottery and buffalo leather).

Night at the hotel Canto do Francês**

You will leave the island and arrive around 17h00 in your hotel in Belém.

Arrival at São Luís airport and meeting with your Portuguese-speaking driver who will drive you to the hotel.

Your driver will pick you up at the hotel or airport in São Luís to go straight to Barreirinhas.

You will take a small motorboat to go from Barreirinhas to Atins on the Preguiças River. After a quick stop at the “pequenos Lençóis” (a smaller version of the Lençóis Maranhenses Park), you will go up the Mandacaru lighthouse to enjoy a panoramic view of the region. The trip will continue by crossing mangroves to reach Caburé (shoal between the river and the ocean) and towards Atins beach, where the hotel staff will pick you up. n.b: two-hour trip.

Departure at 8h00 from your hotel towards the Lençóis Maranhenses Park. After a short 4WD ride to Canto do Atins, you will walk approximately 50 minutes between sand dunes and lagoons and eventually reach the Lagoa Verde. After enjoying a refreshing bath, your driver will take you to a restaurant where you will taste the famous shrimps of Dona Luiza.

Return to Atins around 18h30.

In the morning, departure on the Preguiças River for your journey back to São Luís. Lunch (non-included) in Barreirinhas.

Three hours before your flight, your Portuguese speaking driver will drive you to the airport.
Your driver will pick you up to go to Mangue Seco: a small village stuck in time on the northern coast of Bahia.

You will go all the way through the “green line” and cross the river during 20 minutes before reaching Mangue Seco and the hotel.
