Salvador, seaside dream and Amazon cruise

Your English-speaking guide and a driver will be waiting for you as you get off the plane to drive you to your hotel in downtown Salvador.

n.b. : 45 minutes’ drive
In the evening, your English-speaking guide will come to pick you up at the hotel to go to the Miguel Santana Theatre. You will watch the magnificent folkloric ballet of Bahia perform songs and dances about Afro Brazilian divinities worshiped in Salvador.
After the show, you will go to a restaurant taste Bahia traditional dishes.
You will go back to your hotel at the end of the night.

Night at the hotel Villa Bahia****

After your breakfast, your English-speaking guide will come to pick you up at the hotel lobby to visit the so called “Black Rome”, nicknamed like so because of the African culture influences on its traditions.
Your will start your city tour by the Ordem Terceira de São Francisco church, that has been built in the XVIIIth century.
You will then walk through the famous Pelourinho square, surrounded by colorful Portuguese colonial mansions.
You will go up the Ladeira do Carmo street to reach Santo Antonio neighborhood, and go through the Terreiro de Jesus square to the huge Art deco style Lacerda elevator. Don't resist the temptation of a refreshing “picolé” (ice cream)!
The second part of this tour will be dedicated to the “low city” at the foot of the elevator. The first thing you will see is the Mercado Modelo, a neoclassic building which was used to receive the slaves arriving from Africa. It burnt to the ground in 1986 and has then become a handicraft market.
You will finish this tour by the Bonfim church, see its railings embellished by rainbow-colored ribbons called “fitas” and enter the Miracle Room, where people bring ex-voto hoping to heal wounded family members and friends.
In the evening, your driver will bring you back to the hotel.

Night at the hotel Villa Bahia****

You will spend the day in the Recôncavo, the inland region of Bahia.

Departure early in the morning for a 2 hours ride to Cachoeira and São Felix, two villages facing each other on both sides of the Paraguaçu river.
During its golden age, Cachoeira was well-known for its cigar production. You will have the opportunity to visit a cigar factory and even smoke a cigar if you wish.

You will be told the villages history while walking through them with your guide. Among the colonial buildings you will visit is the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

You will go from Cachoeira to São Felix by crossing an old ironbridge.

In the afternoon, ride back to Salvador da Bahia.

Three hours before your flight, your English-speaking guide and a driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby to bring you to Salvador airport.

The driver will come to pick you at the airport to take you to Tibau do Sul and Praia da Pipa.

After a few kilometers on the highway, you will penetrate the countryside and start going along the wild seacoast until you reach the hotel.

Night at Sombra e Água Fresca****

Free day to enjoy Pipa beaches – such as Praia do Amor and Praia do Madeiro – and the surroundings.
You will have to opportunity to do buggy excursions along the coast, do some dolphin watching, surf lessons and kitesurf.

The driver will pick you up at your hotel in Pipa to drive you to Natal airport.

Your driver will come to pick you up at Manaus airport to bring you to your hotel.

Night at the Tropical Manaus Ecoresort****

You will embark for the first time on the Amazon Eco Boat – a.k.a. Mamie Denise – and meet its lovely crew.
The first excursion will be the famous Meeting of Waters. On the way, you will see the floating market, houses on stilts and the impressive Rio Negro Bridge.

Regional Lunch on board.

In the afternoon, the boat will anchor at the Lake Janauari Ecological Park. You will reach the lake (from July to January depending on the river water levels) by crossing a wooden footbridge over the submerged forest, and probably have the chance to observe monkeys, caimans and birds, as well as giant trees and water lilies.

Sunset and dinner on board.

Anchorage and night on the Mamie Denise***

The first excursion of the day will be either a meeting with the legendary pink river dolphins or piranha fishing (depending on your preference).

Then, you will visit the Amazonian community of Acajatuba, on the river shore.

At night, you will spot the caimans thank to a lantern which light is reflected by their eyes.

Night on the Rio Negro river on the Mamie Denise***

On the third day, you will have time to enjoy river baths and fish if you wish.

The first stop will be made at the Jaraqui community, you will visit with your guide.

In the afternoon, you will go for a pedagogical easy hiking in the jungle (1h30). Your guide will show you tropical medicinal plants.

You will then navigate deeper into the Anavilhanas river archipelago (one of the biggest in the world).

Journey back to Manaus. Depending on your flight, you can either go straight to Manaus or make a few stops and arrive around 18h30.
