Your excursion in the Lençóis Maranhenses

The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is a unique landscape of sand dunes and lagoon that appears from March to October in the state of Maranhão.

See below some recommendations of what to bring to your excursion or trek in the Park:

• a comfortable back pack,
• 2 pair of socks – ideal to walk without having your feet burned by the hot sand,
• flip-flops – we don’t recommend hiking shoes which fill with sand and that you will need to take-off and wear again after each lagoon crossing,
• sunscreen and sunglasses,
• aftersun lotion,
• mosquito repellent,
• scarf to protect yourself from the sun,
• a hat covering the neck or a cap,
• long sleeves t-shirts and shirts,
• a swimming suit or bikini,
• a towel,
• a rain-poncho,
• a flask,
• snacks (biscuits or cereal bars),
• small bills to buy water and snacks,
• your camera,
• a plastic bag to put your electronic devices and passports and protect them from the rain and the sand.
